Zebra Mussels

Tip 1) Zebra Mussels are an invasive species in the United States. Interstate transport is considered a possible Federal Violation. Check with your state regarding rules regarding catching, transporting and containing.

Tip 2) Zebra Mussel deplete the available nutrients needs for zooplankton, fish hatchlings and other species. This is the opposite case of available nutrients available where Blue Green Algae Blooms occurr.

Tip 3) Periodically Zebra Mussels will seem to die off, but in most cases return the following year.

Tip 4) Zebra Mussels can be controlled with either chemical based, copper based or natural food ingredient based products.

DIRECTIONS TO USE: ZebraCide

ZebraCide Users : (HOA), LAKE MANAGEMENT COMPANIES, PROPERTY OWNER & MUNICIPAL


STEP 1: Add four (4) pounds of Zebra Mussel Minimum Risk Pesticide™ for every 6,000 gallons of water, in water that is above 65 degree Fahrenheit, with no wind or boat activity for 8 to 10 hours. Best to treat during late afternoon. After an hour check and record Chlorophyll a value if below 16 ug/L add two (2) Pounds of Zebra Mussel Minimum Risk Pesticide for every 6,000 gallons of water, repeat hourly monitoring and adding additional material until Chlorophyll a value is between 16 ug/L to 26 ug/L.
STEP 2: Monitor hourly until Chlorophyll ug/L readings are stable. If higher concentration is needed, add four (4) pounds of ZebraCide™ for every 6,000 gallons of water. Continue monitoring a minimum of every six (6) hours, adding additional Zebra Mussel Minimum Risk Pesticide™ at the rate of four (4) pounds per 6,000 gallons as needed to maintain Chlorophyll a concentration between 16 ug/L – 26 ug/L, as indicated by a fluorometer or seechi disk.
STEP 3: Success of Zebra Mussel Death is Determined by Tapping Open Zebra Mussels, if the Zebra Mussel Does Not Close Treatment Has Been Successful. Maintain 16 ug/L – 25 ug/L For at Least 3 days or 24 hours after Zebra Mussel
e.g. (6,000 gallons, is 8 ft. from shore, downward 45° to a depth of 4 ft. deep x 50 ft shoreline, 3.5 oz every 3-feet.)
